Front of House Volunteers
We rely greatly on the support of volunteers to help with the day-to-day running
of the Museum of Oxford.
A newly formed dedicated team of front-of-house volunteers provide public access to the museum’s galleries, exhibitions and events.
Download our Volunteer Flyer for more information.
Front of House volunteers will
- Assist with opening and closing the museum
- Meet and greet visitors
- Maintain learning materials and interactives on display
- Cover the museum shop/reception area, and must be willing to use a
cash till, credit card machine and take incoming telephone calls - Assist with events
We are looking for people to who can commit to regular shifts to ensure that the museum’ s opening times are consistently covered.
'Behind the scenes' volunteering opportunities may be available later in the year. These would include administrative support for exhibitions and marketing and assisting with learning and outreach activities.
Recruiting volunteers for the museum is an ongoing process. If you are interested in applying, please download a registration form (Word version) (PDF version), complete and send it to the Volunteer Coordinator, Museum of Oxford, St Aldates, Oxford OX1 1DZ. Alternatively you can email museum@oxford.gov.uk or telephone on 01865 252761 and one can be sent to you.
After completing a registration form, applicants will be invited to the museum for an informal interview.
For an informal discussion about becoming a volunteer please contact Vanessa Lea on the above email or telephone number.
